Why Join Us?
Many Federations and Associations claim to be for the members. But actions speak louder than words. In our Federation we have proven from day one that the Federation is there to support the membership.
Before the ICTF of Canada even incorporated a team of 5 instructors* traveled to the International Headquarters to really find out about the organization. They trained with the future President, they asked pointed questions, and they met and spoke with a number of the founding members of the International group. This fact-finding mission was funded by the fledgling ICTF of Canada. The 5 instructors returned to Canada with positive feelings towards this new organization. From this trip the foundation for the Canadian Federation was born.
Since then the Federation has worked to establish order in the chaotic world of Chang-Hon Taekwon-Do (Formally ITF stylists). From a strong beginning of 15 000 Chang-Hon members in the early eighties, the Chang-Hon membership split into many smaller groups. There were also many independent clubs who were formerly members of either ITF or GTF organizations. The ICTF attracted a large following quite quickly and within one year became one of the largest Chang-Hon style federations in Canada.
The Federation sanctioned many events including competitions, and seminars. In fact some might say there were too many tournaments in the beginning. The Federation subsidized its founding members by collecting fees and selling support materials in Canadian dollars. (The international Federation charges in US dollars). The Federation further subsidized members by charging less than the exchange rate, and topped up the fees to the international group.
Truly a Federation that does what it says it will do. Put the Taekwon-Do student first.

These words are what the ICTF of Canada is all about. An ICTF black belt certificate from the ICTF is backed by highly regarded leaders of the Chang-Hon Taekwon-Do world. Master Joe Cariati, 8th degree, traveled extensively with General Choi and leads one of the largest Taekwon-Do groups in Eastern Canada. Master Craig Stanley, 8th degree, created the DVD series LEGACY capturing the General’s techniques for history and leads one of the largest Taekwon-Do groups in Western Canada.
The ICTF of Canada continually aids its members in numerous ways. An e-mail or phone call to the headquarters will always result in a solution to a problem, or a short wait for supplies. All decisions are made with the rules guiding the way. No matter what degree, no matter what position you hold, all actions are fair and just.
No instructor will be ignored or put on the back burner. Technical questions, requests for guidance, business assistance, or any other inquiries will get an immediate response. Dialog and communication are extremely important to the leaders of this organization.
Whether you are at a seminar or a tournament, on the phone or writing an e-mail, you will never find an angry or arrogant instructor. Taekwon-Do and its accompanying activities should be fun. If you have any hesitation about speaking to a senior or attending a function, you may be in the wrong federation. Our members look forward to getting together with every other member. That’s the way it should be.
