ITF Open World Championship 2017 - Netherlands
This page is for information and registration to join the delegation going to the ITF Open World Championships. Any person who is an ICTF of Canada member* can send in a registration of intent found at the bottom of this page. The information on this page is as complete as possible but for any clarification please contact us through the contact us page. Travel dates will be Sunday, September 24, 2017 until Tuesday October 3, 2017. *a member is anyone who trains at an ICTF of Canada club. Ask your instructor. |
Black Belts FundedICTF of Canada intends to fund up to 20 Black Belt Competitors with $1100.00 each to cover Flight, hotel/food, gear, and entry fees.

Black Belts self fundedBlack Belts who do not receive funding but are still excited to attend this event may be allowed to do so at their own expense if they are approved by the coaches.

Colour BeltsColour Belts may also be allowed to attend if both their instructors and the coaches agree to their participation. There is no ICTF of Canada funding for colour belts.

Guidelines for joining the delegation
Funding Criteria:
Selection Criteria
The applicant must realize they are applying for funding to compete at a high level international event, and should be aware that ICTF of Canada (the funding body) wish to be represented by the best of the best. As such, the applicant must be willing to put their training and commitment as an extremely high priority - second only to physical impairment, family emergencies, or job commitments that would result in loss of pay or stature. Each instance of missed training sessions or tournaments will be evaluated on a case by case basis and may be cause for dismissal from the Delegation.
ii.) Phoenix Invitational in Feb./March 2017
iii.) Dragon Challenge in May, 2017
iv.) Any other tournament(s) specified by the Selection Committee. These may
include, but are not limited to other Ch'ang Hon Taekwon-Do tournaments,
open style tournaments, etc.
- Club owner must be a member in good standing of ICTF Canada
- Only Black Belts as of November 5, 2016, will be eligible to apply to receive funding
- A maximum of 20 competitors and 4 coaches will receive funding
- The funds provided by ICTF Canada are not to exceed $1,100.00 CAD per competitor.
- Funding will be applied to tournament entry fees, travel and hotel/food costs, and team wear, in that order. Any shortfall in expenses will be the responsibility of the competitor.
- ALL competitors and coaches, funded or not, will be required to follow the same travel, training, and excursion itinerary
- Any colour or Black Belt wishing to compete but not receive ICTF Canada funding must still be vetted by the Selection Committee and follow the rules laid out below.
- Any colour belt or black belt not receiving/interested in funding but still wanting to join the delegation must submit an application by the deadline.

- applicant must compete in the following tournaments:
ii.) Phoenix Invitational in Feb./March 2017
iii.) Dragon Challenge in May, 2017
iv.) Any other tournament(s) specified by the Selection Committee. These may
include, but are not limited to other Ch'ang Hon Taekwon-Do tournaments,
open style tournaments, etc.
- the applicant's success at each of the specified tournaments will be taken into consideration by the Selection Committee:
- First Place in Sparring or Patterns - 5 points;
- Second Place in Sparring or Patterns - 3 points;
- Third Place in Sparring or Patterns - 2 points;
- Fourth Place in Sparring or Patterns - 2 points.
- Participate but garner no medals at any tournament approved by committee - 1 point
- Applicants must attend any and all training sessions. Mandatory training sessions will begin in September, 2016, and will occur on a monthly basis. The committee will try to give at least 4 weeks notice for training sessions.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to train as much as possible between mandatory training sessions at their own dojang as well as other dojangs approved by their Instructor
- Once funding has been spent on an approved candidate (competitor or coach) in any amount, they are responsible for re-imbursing the Federation if they fail to attend the 2017 ITF Open World Championships for ANY reason, for all expenses incurred, including legal fees if legal action is required to recover funds. A letter of understanding in regards to this must be signed before any disbursement of funds can occur.
