ITALY - 2015
ICTF will be attending the ITF World Cup in Italy in June of 2015. This event is open to colour belts as well as black belts. Any ICTF member wishing to be a part of the delegation must get prior approval from their instructor in writing and approval from the ICTF of Canada tournament Director, also in writing. Those members receiving permission in writing from both parties mentioned above will be allowed to accompany the ICTF delegation to the event at their own cost.
Instructors - How to determine if your student should apply for inclusion to the ICTF delegation to Italy
If you have a student (colour belt or black belt) who is interested in attending this event, you must consider their ability to compete, especially in sparring. They will first be representing you, and then the ICTF. Most important we do not want anyone to have wasted their time and money on an excursion that you as their instructor knew beforehand would be a waste of their time. Just because a student can afford to travel to Italy does not mean they should be allowed. Consider the possibility that they get injured during the sparring match. If they have only an average ability and have proven in class and at tournaments to be less than successful with aggressive attacks, they should not go. Encourage them to increase their experience and skill at local events before trying an international one.
Team representation
The team will be the core of the delegation. These members will be funded by the ICTF of Canada. Team members will be made up of 10 individual competitors. Funding has been set at $25 000 for the 10 team members or in other words $2500 each. 1 coach will also be funded, at $2500 . There will also be one trainer/videographer funded to attend at $2500. Additional funding can be raised by individual clubs for members going to the event but that will be their responsibility. Canada wide fund raising for the team members will be undertaken by ICTF of Canada to increase the $2500 amount already earmarked for them. The goal is to raise at least an additional $6 000 to add $500 per member in support.
How to get selected to the team (one of the ten)
An application form on the web site will be created. Fill out this form and send it in to the Executive. Your instructor will be contacted by the executive for further information and their approval. If you are denied at this point you will be informed immediately. After the form is sent in you will be asked to supply certain information in regards to your pattern and sparring technique. Video clips of your self in action will be requested. Training sessions in your region will be established by the executive and attendance will be considered a guide to your commitment to this competition. Team members will be announced throughout the course of the next 4 months as they are chosen. More information will be posted as it becomes available to us.
